  1. Shani, I am sending my condolences to you & your in-laws on the passing of the patriarch. My God bring you comfort.

  2. Walter, my “Favorite Brother” from a different mother. Kathy and I are devastated by your passing. We were so looking forward to getting together with you and Donna this summer when we return. I’m afraid you will need to do all the planning from above! We will look forward to our get together!
    Rest in Peace Favorite Brother!

  3. Your Powell Family are forever grateful for your kindness and generosity shown to us, always. Rest in Peace,
Andre, Shontra, Zoe, AJ and Sam

  4. Walter was a true brother in Christ, a wonderful neighbor, and a dear friend. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, steady spirit, and the way he cared for others left a lasting impact on everyone around him.

We are lifting Donna and the entire family in prayer—his children and grandchildren—during this difficult time. May the Lord surround you with peace, comfort, and strength, and may you feel His presence in the days ahead.

Walter’s life was a blessing, and his memory will live on in the hearts of many.

    With heartfelt sympathy and prayers.
    Armond and Cescilly Jenkins

  5. Please know that you are surrounded by love, prayers, and heartfelt sympathy.
Walter was clearly a man who meant so much to so many, a steady presence, a source of wisdom, and a legacy of love that will continue through each of you. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18. May you feel that nearness now, in quiet moments, in shared stories, and in the comfort of one another. Holding you in prayer and asking God to wrap His loving arms around each of you.
Shannon, Dora, Shannon II, & Dorian 🙏🏽

  6. We will always remember Walter’s smile and kindness. May God grant you peace and mercy during this difficult time. We are thinking of you and sending prayers.

Janet, Mike, MJ, and Coker Lucas

  7. With heartfelt sympathy and love. Sending my deepest condolences to you and your family, keeping you lifted in prayer and praying for comfort, strength, and peace in the days ahead.

  13. Although I did not know Mr. Walter Lee Smith personally, I know the fruit that he has produced! I have the absolute pleasure of working with Mrs. Shanee’ Jenkins who is one of the most thoughtful, Godly, caring, and brilliant individuals anyone would ever want to meet. You know a tree by the fruit it bares, Mr. Smith bore great fruit! Rest in power and my family is praying for the comfort of his family!

  14. I’ll NEVER forget Our trip to CALIFORNIA —
YOU are ALWAYS IN MY HEART — See YOU in
    ETERNAL LIFE —
    REST EASY BROTHER—

  15. To all loved ones who are grieving your loss! Please allow us to share our hope for our dead loved ones: “the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs (grave) will hear his (Jesus’) voice and come out (live again)! Our heartfelt condolences!

  16. I’m so deeply sorry for your loss. He was truly one of those rare souls who leaves an imprint on everyone he meets. Thank you for sharing him with so many of us. He taught me so much about God, always encouraged me to keep pushing forward, and never failed to greet me with a warm hug and an even warmer smile. He never once made me feel stupid for not understanding a passage from the Bible—he always took the time to help me, with patience and kindness.

I regret not seeing him in so long and not getting the chance to say goodbye, but I find comfort in knowing he’s in heaven now—watching over all of us and singing the very best songs. I’ll always cherish how we bonded over our love for the Milwaukee Bucks, and how much I loved seeing him at the games. His faith, compassion, and joyful spirit will stay with me forever. Sending so much love, prayers, and comfort to your family during this incredibly hard time.

  17. You can always tell how good, intentional, and loving a parent is just by meeting their child. When I first met Shalisa, I immediately knew how kind, God-fearing, and close-knit her parents had to be, and meeting them was such a beautiful confirmation of that instinct.

Every time I came around, Mr. Smith exuded and extended his fatherly warmth to me, and I will always appreciate him for that. The love, strength, and light he poured into his family — especially in the way he raised children who saw him as so much more than a dad — shows just how cherished he is and how naturally he influenced everyone who met him. To say he will be missed is an understatement, but there is comfort in knowing he is resting in peace and with God. My heart and prayers are with the entire Smith family 🤎

  18. Sending prayers of comfort and encouragement during this time 🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️

  19. I was so shocked and sorry to hear about the passing of my long time friend Walt. We met many many years ago at the YMCA and we stayed friends all these years. I have known Lee most of my life and he has always been a wonderfully unique Christian man with a kind spirit. I pray
for your family that God will grant you the peace from the words of the last solo I heard Lee sing ” King Jesus will roll
all burdens away “. Take your rest my brother.
Your sister in Christ , Judy Carson

    • Walter Lee your smile has always been a light to my world and it was comforting when I looked up at my Mother’s Memorial and saw you, it made that day bearable!! I am deeply saddened by the news of your transition but knowing you are without pain makes it easier to accept. Looking back to 1965 when we moved to 16th Street you and your family were welcome in our home, watching basketball with my dad or asking for water or something to drink when not at Mrs.Miller asking for the same. To your entire Smith family my heartfelt condolences to each of you. Walter Lee was a special man in so many ways to a lot of people that I’m sure you already know so I won’t elaborate but just say thank you for sharing him with us. Asking the good Lord to grant your family with peace, strength and patience throughout this difficult time.My hope is that all memories keep your heart filled with love and bring smiles each and every time you hear his name. Lastly Pam and I regret we couldn’t attend today because of illness but are there in spirit. God Bless
