Joan Rosetta Fields was born on October 10th, 1946, to the union of Herman Fields Sr. and Marguerite Fields in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. Her family then went on to move to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she received her formal education in the Milwaukee Public School System and at the Milwaukee Area Technical College.

Joan accepted Christ as her savior at an early age and was united with the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Obie Sartin Sr. and then under Rev. Russell B. Williamson, where she served as a Youth Coordinator, member of the Zion Hill Gospel Choir, and member of the Missionary Society.

Joan was employed in the Milwaukee Public School system for years as a teacher’s assistant at Green Bay Avenue School, and then went on to work at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin as a playroom coordinator until her retirement.

In her leisure, Joan enjoyed singing in the church choir, working crossword puzzles, working with children, and especially shopping for clothes.

Ms. Joan Rosetta Fields passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman Sr. and Marguerite Fields; brother, Herman Fields Jr., brother-in-law Lester Stewart; sister-in-law Deborah Fields, and nephew Anthony Stewart.

She leaves to cherish her memory, sisters, Margaret Stewart of South Holland, Illinois, and Janice Fields of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; sister-in-law, Virginia Fields, Milwaukee, WI; brothers, Leroy Fields, Willie (Vivian)Fields, Stanley Fields, and Steven Fields, all of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

She also leaves behind, nieces and nephews; Leslie Stewart, Michelle (Michael) Peavy , Deniece (Lincoln)Russell, Olivia Fields, Martina Fields, Eric Dunbar, Paul (Kristian) Stewart, Darnell (Cynthia) Harris, Leroy Fields Jr., Christian (Lorrie) Fields and Darren Fields, and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews. She also held a special place in her heart for her Goddaughter, Cynthia “Pixie” Nord.

Joan will be dearly missed and always remembered.

Born to eternal life on April 14, 2025 at the age of 78 years. Combined Services, Saturday, May 3, 2025; Visitation: 10-11 AM Funeral: 11 AM at Zion Hill MBC located 1825 W. Hampton Ave.
