Clara Louise Diggins (Bryant) was born on June 24th, 1928, and received the promise of Eternal Life on October 6, 2024, at her home of 60 years, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of Jenkins Bryant Sr. and Mattie Bryant (Nichols). Clara spent her early years in Hale County Alabama, where she was united in marriage to Ivory Diggins, and they relocated to Racine Wisconsin.

After migrating North, Clara was a devoted wife and mother. She became employed at Southern Wisconsin Center, where she worked for 35 years, retiring as a Resident Care Tech. Clara had a heart to serve and to take care of others, which is why she thrived in her role at Southern Wisconsin Center. Clara loved the Lord and gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of Wayman A.M.E. for many years. Clara loved taking care of her family, gardening, crocheting, connecting with her siblings, and cooking. After retirement Clara enjoyed having lunch with the Southern Center Retirees Club and making afghans. Clara’s greatest achievements were found in her devotion to family. She nurtured them with her warmth, wisdom, and unparalleled affection. Her smile had the power to brighten even the darkest days, and her hugs were a source of comfort and strength. Those simple gestures are memories she leaves to her family to carry close to their hearts and remember all that she gave them.

Clara leaves to cherish her memory Her devoted daughters: Aundra and Debora of Racine, WI, Daughter-in-Law Evelyn Prince (Racine), Grandchildren: Leon Prince Jr. (Milwaukee) and Corey Prince (Shay) of Racine, WI, Great Grandchildren: Leon III (Milwaukee) and Jaxson (Racine). She also leaves to cherish her memory two special nieces: Cynthia (Dr. Bennett) Desadier of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Dr. Ambra Beach of Chicago, Illinois, great nieces, nephews, cousins, bonus daughter: Gloria McKinstry Greer (Jerry) of Hephzibah, Georgia, and special friends: Mrs. Louella Price, and Mrs. Betty Thomas of Racine, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents: Jenkins Bryant Sr, and Mattie Bryant (Nichols). Her husband Ivory Diggins, Children: Cleon and Leon Prince, and Clara Delois Prince. Grandchildren: Gerrod Fitzgerald Prince, and Tiffany D. Prince. Siblings: Jenkins Bryant Jr., Mary Dupree, and Willie H. Bryant. Sister’s and Brother-in-Law: Sadie Jean Bryant, Mable Bryant, and Lonnie Dupree. The family would like to thank all those who have sent words of encouragement, cards, called and prayed for us during this difficult time. We appreciate you embodying the spirit of love that Clara showed to all and returning it to us.

  1. My Deepest Condolences to you and your family for the loss of a beautiful soul. A mother’s love is external. Hold on to that infinite love and let it be your guilding light.God Bless 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️

  2. Mother Diggins was a person who encouraged me when I was new in the ministry. She was one who provided a comfortable presence and was a true person of integrity. Throughout the years even though we no longer attended the same House of Worship we remained in contact to uplift one another’s spirit. Through Mother Diggins, I developed a love for her family as well. She meant so much to me, when I was facing adversity in the church, she encouraged me to keep on going for the Lord. My own Mother passed away two months after I preached my first sermon, but I could always take comfort and encouragement from Mother Clara. God has certain people embrace our lives for a reason and a season. Family, to be absent from the body allows us to be present with the Lord. You have my love, my sympathy, and my respect and you will always Mother Diggins love!
