Oranetta Johnson

My husband, my sister, and I send our condolences to the family. My mother and Mrs. Johnson were school mates from a young age and remained friends over the course of their lives, so Mrs. Johnson was family to us. I can remember visiting Chicago with my parents, and they had to make the trip to Milwaukee to see their dear friend. Likewise Mrs. Johnson would make it a point to visit us when she was in the area. When my mom turned 70, I made arrangements for Mrs. Johnson to fly to Atlanta and surprise my mom for her birthday. When they saw each other – they hugged and giggled like two school girls. The last time they visited with one another was when my mom and I went to visit her in Arizona…..once again they had a lot of fun reminiscing about their exploits together. When my mom was suffering from dementia, Mrs. Johnson would call and check on her. Some days they laughed and talked, other days the conversation was brief due to my mom’s memory lapse. Nevertheless, Mrs. Johnson was kind, compassionate and always patient with her. I will always appreciate that and remember her with much love!
