Lena Mae Hatchett was born September 20, 1936 in West Point, Mississippi. She transitioned peacefully and comfortably into the hands of the Lord on October 6, 2020 at the age of 84 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Lena moved to Milwaukee as a teenager with her parents and spent the majority of her life living in Milwaukee. Having a passion for helping others, Lena working as a private duty nurse for over 40 years. Lena was also an activist as a member of Operation Push working with the Reverend Jesse Jackson. She was an excellent cook and for those fortunate enough to enjoy the fruits of her labor, were treated to many of her specialty soul food dishes that tempted the palate and filled the belly. Lena passed away at home on October 6, 2020 of medical complications due to prolonged illness. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. Her impact on the world will be realized by those who were fortunate enough to know her. Lena leaves to mourn her passing 5 children, 2 adopted daughters, 18 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, three sisters and two brothers. A visitation for Lena will be Friday, October 16, 2020 from 5:00-7:30pm at; Paradise Memorial Funeral Home 7625 W. Those wishing to pay their respects are encouraged to attend the visitation.***
