“If Roses Grow in Heaven
Lord, please pick a bunch for me.
Place them in my Mother’s arms
and tell her they’re from me.
Tell her that I love her and miss her,
and when she turns to smile,
place a kiss on her cheek
and hold her for a while.
Because remembering her is easy,
I do it every day,
but there’s an ache within my heart
that will never go away.”
Love You, Mama,
Aunt Janie, as she was called, by her nieces and nephews, was my mother’s sister. Although she moved to Milwaukee from Louisiana before I was born, she was always present in our lives. I can’t remember a time when Aunt Janie wasn’t. She was either visiting or sending boxes of goodies to us. When we were younger, she was a bit scary because she tended to be a strict disciplinarian. But it was all love . I will miss our phone calls, discussing God’s word and keeping her updated on family and friends. Gone but never forgotten. For her, to be absent from the body is certainly to be present with the Lord. God blessed you and us for 94 years. Now take your rest and enter the joy of the Lord. See you later. Aunt Janie. Wilbert, James and Connie, continued prayers to the God of all comfort for peace, strength, love and comfort during this time. Love you guys.
