I will miss our talks. She could tell a story like no one else and always offered sage, steady advice. The cadence of her voice and the sound of her laugh will stay with me forever.
You have lived a long and beautiful life, auntie. It’s time to rest now. Love you.
Until we meet again.
Aunt Jewell was a woman I looked up to from childhood and continued to admire throughout my life. Coming from a rural area of Mississippi, she pursued an education and became a school teacher—proving that her beginnings would never limit the heights she could reach.
Together with my Uncle Jim, she helped build an incredible legacy. They owned two stores and another very successful business, yet despite all they accomplished, they remained humble, grounded, and gracious.
I especially loved hearing Aunt Jewell talk. Her voice, her presence, and her demeanor were unforgettable. She was the epitome of a strong Black woman—wise, dignified, and never afraid to speak her mind, while always knowing how to show love.
Aunt Jewell was truly one of a kind. I am grateful for the example she gave me and for the privilege of having known and loved her. Her legacy will live on in all of us who were blessed to call her family.
Rest well, Aunt Jewell. You will always be admired, loved, and remembered. ❤️🙏🏾
I was blessed to share special moments with her—watching Packer games, singing songs of praise, and being guided by her wisdom as I studied my Sunday School lessons. These are memories I will cherish dearly.
I am grateful that God allowed our paths to cross and that I had the privilege of being touched by her presence and love.
**I love you, Momma. Rest peacefully until we meet again.** ❤️🙏🏽
