October 26, 1947 ~ April 1, 2026

Born in: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Resided in: Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Clarence Boone Carter (affectionately known as Clancy) was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on
October 26, 1947 to the union of the late Robert Boone Carter and Lorraine Bledsoe Carter.
Clarence peacefully closed his eyes on April 1, 2026 entering into intercity. In his teen years
Clarence met Loretta O‘Kelley and they were blessed with a daughter, Bran Dee Nicole Carter.
On New Year’s Eve Day 1983 Clarence met Myrna (Mimi) Russell with whom he shared his
remaining years. Clarence attended 21st Street, 9th Street, Roosevelt, and Robert Fulton grade
school. He graduated from North Division High School in 1965 and received additional
education at MATC. He worked at Graasch‘s Soda Company while in High School and later
went on to work at Richard’s Steak House, Margaret‘s Lounge, Hook‘s Bar, and several
community based organizations including Commando Project One, and the Milwaukee
Conservation Corps. His most recent employment was at the Nehiamiah Project Trans Center
where he worked as a youth care worker for over 40 years. In early life Clarence worshipped at
Greater Galilee Missionary Baptist Church under leadership of Rev. Sydney J. Bowers Pastor.
Clarence enjoyed bicycling with his nephew, grandsons, and granddaughters, barbecuing in the
backyard, watching sports, especially football and basketball. He loved sitting on the porch and
chatting with the neighbors, tinkering with cars, and his numerous home improvement projects.
He was especially adept with paint concoctions, (many of you have been a witness to his
masterpieces). He loved listening to Jazz and oldschool music and looking at old family photos.
He looked forward to the yearly Bledsoe-Carter family reunion in Milwaukee and yearly
pilgrimage to his ancestors farmland and homestead in Milan, Tennessee. He loved spending
time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and showering them sweets (even if
forbidden by their parents). He enjoyed the monthly meetings with the Bullfrog Crew and the
occasional visit to John and Mickey Beverly‘s farm. Clarence loved Life and he loved Living!
Clarence had a personality larger than life. He always had something witty to say at any given
situation and a nickname for everybody. He had a strong, loving, kind spirit and infectious laugh.
He never met a stranger. He was a great communicator. He could get his point across almost
before you even knew what he said! He had a great sense of humor that was beyond compare.
He was definitely one in a million, a character all of his own. Clarence could be high-spirited and
flamboyant and at other times calm and reflectful. He was energetic and playful as well as quiet
and peaceful. He was loved by all he met. He could be brutally honest but you would surely
have learned a life lesson. He was a leader, not a follower. His family is grateful that despite his
illness he continued to have that happy upbeat spirit that he was well known for. His bold,
nurturing spirit will be greatly missed by many of who’s he touched.
Clarence Carter‘s legacy lives on in his children: Bran Dee N. Carter, Alicia L. Stingley, Scott S. Russell, Angela M. (Robert) Crape Adams, and
Cleavon R. (Jaime) Crape. His eighteen (18) grandchildren: Anevay, Autumn, Aonesti,
Avonyae, Asiah, Adeyiz, Cameron, Chloe, Candece, Corey (deceased), Justin, Angelica,
Angeleah, Angelynn, Angelisa, Mariella, Cora, Cooper
His thirteen (13) great-grandchildren:
Kayden, Demari, Avanna, Aubrielle, Zekiel, Azra, Auri, Miel, K‘morah, Kahli, Alani, Aria, Adria
