  3. Dearest Aunt Fannie,
I really don’t know where to start. I will never forget the last hug we have each other and what you said to me at that moment. My heart has been heavy and broken since you passed. However, I’m sincerely grateful for those rare moments I had with you and I’m so proud to call you aunty.
Rest in power my dearest aunt Fannie.
    I miss you.
See you when I get there xx

  4. Fannie, I’m so glad to be blessed with you as my sister. You, Cora, and Vy are women to be admired; your strength and love have carried this family for decades. Now is your time to rest and move forward. Death is never the end for the soul, only the body. I love you, my beautiful sister, may our love carry you home.
I honour you with love and respect always.
    Stacey Zuckerman

  5. Maxine and I are sorry for the loss of Fannie.

All of my memories of Fannie are pleasant. My earliest memory of her date back to the 1950s when she lived in West, MS. West is located in Holmes County. The Big Black River flowed North to South and divided Holmes County on its West side from Attala County on its East side. Attala County is where Lynn (Leonard Brister) I lived. Every weekend, Friday and Saturday nights, especially Saturdays, nearly all the residents would meet in the Alley of the little town of West, and have a good time: laughing, talking, partying and developing special friendships. As a kid, I remember one term kept coming up over and over again during social conversations. The people who lived in West, or on the West side of the river, would refer to the rest of us, as the “folks from across the river”. One person in particular I remember is Fannie. Her face would light up, and she seemed to take great delight in using the words, “across the river” to refer to people from Attala County. One of the strangest things about my memory of her is, I feel like she and I rode the school bus together to go to school. I’m positively sure that never happened. However, Lynn and I did ride the bus together, and it must have been his constant talking about her that made it feel like she was on the bus with us.

May your hearts be comforted and your soul rejoice by reflecting on the fond memories you have of her.

  6. I wish to express my deepest sympathy to the family. Fannie was one of the loveliest women I have ever known. No person or experience will ever replace the HAPPY DAYS and love she gave me.

  12. Jan,
Although I never had the pleasure of meeting your mom in person, I’ve had the pleasure of knowing what a beautiful person she raised, you! I know words are useless at a time like this. Loosing your mom is something that you never really get over, you simply try to adjust to life without her.

It won’t be an easy journey, but one that you will get through if you relay on those who love you and lean on your faith. I am here for whatever you need. Even if it’s someone to cry with you on the phone. You are not alone.

    God bless.
