Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I’ll miss seeing Miss Fine at the reunion, and even when she came to visit in Detroit. I remember when she used to visit my grandma, Annie and she would always speak to me, even when I was really small.

I’m glad I got to meet you and speak with you and hear you tell us about the family history.

Much love and condolences to the Ramsey family and the Milwaukee fam. We were all so blessed to have her with us and to have her influence guiding us as an elder in our family.

    Love, Steph (Esmond’s Great-grand daughter, Annie’s-granddaughter, Mary’s daughter)

  2. Family sending love as we send our matriarch off today! Aquilla you are always in my heart and your guidance shall forever remain with me and be handed down throughout the family. I love you Kenny, Marianne and family!

  3. Kenny, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in the passing of
    your mom.
    Lynn and Fred Ransom

  4. As I sit and remember my dear cousin, Aquilla M. Ramsey, better known as “Miss Fine”, I remember a powerful woman who shared an example of moving forward in life with purpose. As a part of the Bryant/Singleton Legacy, I am glad I was able to share the part of her life that I did. It was delightful to know that Miss Fine left such a positive effect on those who crossed her path.

Kenny, continue to walk in power and might that your mom gave to you and remember how blessed we are as a family. You are not in this alone. All your family is here for you and God has not forsaken you. I am continually praying for your strength as you continue to move forward in your life. Miss Fine will always be with you, and you will see her again.
    Psalm 23:

    Always,
    Cousin Francine Tompkins
(Legacy= Bertha Bryant Morris, Christina Smith Tompkins)

  5. Aunt Aquilla I will miss you. I didn’t see you much, but I fondly remember when I had the chance to talk with you and Kenny in Las Vegas when we were there for Uncle Matthew’s funeral. I enjoyed our time together and the humor and remembrances that were shared. You will be missed and you will continue to be loved here on earth and in heaven.

  6. Williams/Roberts Ramsey Families Loved esch other DEARLY. Love and Blessings Always!💕🌹🙏🏾

  7. This beautiful soul will be missed here on earth, but we are not saddened because we will see her very soon again. We are sure her soul is present with the Lord. Be encouraged Family because the time of His resurrection is sooner than we think.

    Love,
Denise, Archie, Carolyn, Gwen, Lydia (Archie Rogers children in Florida)

  8. Our prayers are with you as we celebrate your life and the impact and love we shared. She was my ‘other’ Big Sister ! Our families enjoyed life and love as we grew up .
Now we will wait for that Great Day when we will be together again.

    Lovingly submitted ,Frances Williams Bruce

  9. Remembering the last one of a Ramsey generation… the Last of the Ramsey Ancients.

Aunt Aquilla, also known as Mrs. Ramsey, also known as Ms. Roberts has lived a long and prosperous life! Through her life, she touched, influenced, and impacted so many people and their lives. Probably more than we’ll ever know or realize. She was blessed and has blessed so many people and will be… or rather already is… greatly missed.

Maybe it’s just me; but at least for me as a kid, there are some people (usually just a few though) whose voice and tone or pitch you know and learn to recognize immediately. You can be in a noisy crowded place, and those people when they call out your name…. you recognize it immediately! …and say; that’s so-in-so calling me! …and that’s through all the other noise and commotion going on all around you… you hear their voice and it’s clear as day… as if they’re right next to you. I’m not sure if I was always in situations where my name was being called; but right now I can hear… Aunt Aquilla’s voice and tone or pitch calling, “Jimmy! Jimmy!”

I remember Aunt Aquilla as always being so welcoming to people and really… everyone she crossed paths with in this thing we call life. She was so good natured towards everyone she’d meet. I’d like to think that was the teacher in her coming out… as she definitely found her calling and gift from God. She wasn’t necessarily rich by no means; but always offered and shared whatever she had with anyone and everyone around… and made sure there was no one that was not taken care of. What a beautiful legacy she is leaving behind.

As I previously stated… Aunt Aquilla DID NOT miss her calling. She was the consummate educator. An accomplished Mother and teacher, very gifted, polished, and skilled. She was in charge, as teachers have to be with kids of ALL ages! And she would let you know that… if there was any question or doubt. Yet, there was always a part of her that still projected the personality that Ms. Roberts had with so much patience, kindness, and gentleness that was in her and part of her nature.

She LOVED her boys too! There was no doubt about that either! She knew that “blood was thicker than water” and made sure that family, including her boys, were always taken care of… which by the way… is the reason she expected that from her boys in return.

I will miss you Aunt Aquilla, and I’m posting this as I know and I am sorry I can’t be there to celebrate and share in remembering your life at this time. I am unable to make the drive as I recently had cataracts surgery on both eyes and I’m still not seeing straight 🙂 as I am also waiting on a new eye glasses prescription…. and yes I know most of us are all dealing with that “A” (Age) thing now… in some way, shape, or form…

I wanted to also let Kenny know he and his family are in our thoughts and prayers and that he has not been forgotten.

Sending love, thoughts, and prayers to all the Ramseys …the mighty, mighty Ramseys! From the Ramseys here in the Big O…. Omaha.

In conclusion, I submit an excerpt from the NAB Bible (New American Bible; Catholic World Press) Hope for the Christian Dead. This passage is from the First Letter of St Paul to the Thessalonians 4:13-18 —

We do not want you to be unaware, brothers, about those who have fallen asleep, so that you may not grieve like the rest, who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose, so too will God, through Jesus, bring with him those who have fallen asleep. Indeed, we tell you this, on the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will surely not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself, with a word of command, with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God, will come down from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore, console one another with these words.

    God Bless…

  10. Please find comfort in the real hope of being reunited with Aquila in God’s new world. Almost 2,000 years ago, Jesus taught his followers to pray for God’s Kingdom to come. (Matthew 6:9-10). God’s Kingdom will bring complete and permanent healing for all of us. (Isaiah 33:24). The Carter Family.
